Sookmyung Women's University is one of the Campuses in South Korea that opens a Summer School Class for International students. This program offers 1 month of study in South Korea
with cultural activities that are very interesting and add new insights. There are 4 class options in this program, namely, Novice Korean, Taekwondo and Korean Sports C ulture, Understanding of Korea Through Keywords, and finally Korean Culture and Korean's Human Relationship. I personally chose the Novice Korean and Korean Culture and Korean's Human Relationship classes. Apart from increasing our knowledge about Korea an d its culture, through this program we can also increase our relationships with many new friends from different countries.

While participating in the SISS program, we carried out several Cultural Activities that had been prepared by SMU previously. Among them are, DMZ Trip, Making Korean Food: Korean Dessert,
Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace (Try on Hanbok), Korean Calligraphy, K Wa ve Special Lecture , Learn K POP Dance, and Watch Nanta Performance. All of those activities are very fun.

1. DMZ Trip
DMZ means Demilitarized Zone. This activity invites us to visit areas near the border of South Korea and North Korea. As we all know, these two countries are countries that used to be one country but have now been separated for more than 70 years and are under a ceasefire. This DMZ Tour gives us knowledge about Korean history and the separation of many famili es.

2. Making Korean Food: Korean Dessert
We visited Donuimun Museum Village where we made traditional Korean snacks in the form of Dasik which consists of 3 flavors and all three have a sweet taste.

3. Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace (Try on Hanbok)
We tried wearinghanbok, which is traditional Korean clothing, and enjoyed the views and architectural style of Gyeongbokgung Palace which is steeped in Korean culture.

4. Korean Calligraphy
This time, the indoor activity prepared by SMU was a Korean calligraphy writing class where we were taught the basics of writing Hangeul, then we practiced writing Hangeul in a beautiful writing style and depicting it on a traditional hand fan.

5. K Wave Special Lecture
This activity is also an indoor activ ity where we listen to a class about K Wave. As we know, K Wave has now become global.

6. Learn K POP Dance
In this activity we learned how to dance a dance from one of the K POP groups. This time we studied How Sweet by New Jeans.

7. Watch Nanta Performance Nan ta Performance is the activity that I like the most because this show is very interesting. This performance held in Myeongdong was very exciting and refreshing. Apart from the excitement of the show which is accompanied by songs and dances with a clearly c onveyed storyline, this show also shows several typical Korean traditions such as Salmunori, Samgomu, and also shows various kinds of typical Korean food such as Kimchi.

While I was taking part in this program, I was able to experience so many new experiences and new knowledge about South Korea. Because my major is Korean Language and Culture, I can practice and analyze what I have l earned previously directly in South Korea. I understand more about Korean society and their culture. One thing that really interests me is Jeong where even though I am a foreigner, some of the Korean people I met here were very kind to me and even asked me several times if I liked South Korea.
To participants who want to take part in this program in the future, I suggest that you always read carefully and read all the instructions because no matter how confused you are, all the information has been stated in detail. This does not only apply to registration but al so during your stay in Korea. Also if you are confused about somet hing, don't be afraid to ask because it is better to ask than to act carelessly.
