2. Regarding Cultural Activities
Cultural and extracurricular activities include visits to the Demilitarized zone (DMZ), visit to the museums, Korean candy making, cultural activities like Nanta performances, special lectures about Korean pop culture, visit to Gyeongbukgung palace and kpop dance practice.
My favorite activity of all is the DMZ visit. The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a buffer zone that separates North and South Korea. It is 250 kilometers long and 4 kilometers broad. It was created in 1953 as part of the Korean Armistice Agreement and divides the two nations along the 38th parallel. The absence of human development has allowed the heavily defended DMZ to become a unique natural zone, despite it still being one of the world's most militarized boundaries. It is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as being a historically and politically significant location. A number of tours provide insights into the ongoing division and larger war between the two Koreas.
My second favorite is the nanta performance. Popular nonverbal performance NANTA from South Korea combines humor, food, and gymnastics with traditional Korean rhythms. In the show, a group of cooks use kitchen utensils as percussion instruments as they rush to prepare a wedding feast. Its unique combination of humor and music has won praise for its upbeat and captivating performances, which have made it a worldwide hit.

5. After participating in the program, what you learned about Korea and what you became interested in Korea.
By delving deeply into Korean culture and society, the Sookmyung International Summer School program can broaden your perspective and pique your curiosity. This is a synopsis of what I discovered and find fascinating.
Cultural Heritage: I learnt about Korea's rich past, including its customs, festivals, and art forms, through courses and cultural events. Engaging in customary rituals or touring historical locations like Gyeongbokgung Palace offer a concrete link to Korea's history.
Modern Society: Gaining an appreciation for how historical forces have influenced modern Korea requires an understanding of contemporary concerns and advances in Korea, such as its rapid technical advancements and its role as a global economic player.
Language and Communication: Acquiring a foundational knowledge of Korean or honing your skills through language instruction provides a useful grasp of the language's function in daily life and culture.
Cuisine: Learning about Korean cuisine exposed me to the distinctive tastes and eating practices that are essential to Korean culture. This includes anything from street snacks to traditional meals like bulgogi and kimchi.
Social Norms and Values: Interacting with locals helped me to better understand the social dynamics, manners, and values that are significant to Korean culture.
Below are what I got interested in and that I would like to further explore when I come back to south korea again.
Korean Pop Culture: Seeing K-dramas, K-pop, and Korean films may pique one's curiosity in the country's modern entertainment industry and its influence outside.
Korean traditional arts and crafts, such calligraphy, ceramics, and hanbok (traditional attire), has really become more appealing to you.
Language Learning: I am motivated to carry on studying Korean as a result of the experience, which would improve my communication skills and deepen my understanding of the culture.
Vacation & Exploration: One of the main components of my vacation plans may be an interest in seeing more of Korea's varied regions, from the busy metropolis of Seoul to the tranquil spots like Jeju Island.
Cultural Exchange and Relations: Through more education or career opportunities pertaining to Korean culture and society, I have a stronger interest in promoting cross-cultural linkages and comprehending global viewpoints as a result of the experience.
